Mutsumi was born in Japan. She has been playing the piano since she was 6 years old. She migrated to Australia in 1996 and has furthered her studies and gained her AMus A, CTMus A and ATMus A. She has been a ballet piano accompanist for several years at Brisbane Dance Centre and is also a professional member of the Accompanist Guild Queensland.
